Jessica Rose writes a compelling article, and summarises with the following:
COVID-19 mRNA-based LNP injections make people more likely to get COVID <snip> and the injections have been associated with strange gene profiles in essential immune mediators (CD8+ T cells)—
…
HIV mRNA-based LNP injections make people more likely to get HIV, and the injections will be associated with strange gene profiles in essential immune mediators (CD4+ T cells)—
Now, in the grand scheme of things, flipping from CD8+ to CD4+ T cells in her analogy probably doesn’t matter. But I am very curious if it was intentional, and why the flip.
Plenty of comments already, some from people smarter than me (Crawford, for example) but not a single query as to why she flipped them. My understanding is:
CD8+ T cells are attackers
CD4+ T cells are regulators (mount up!)
Same progenitors, very different mediation immunologically. So why the flip?
We all make mistakes, so if it was a mistake, a quick query and clarification or correction could improve her already excellent article - either through additional explanation or edit.
I’d ask, but after dismissing the popup “Commenting is only for subscribers” I see there is no chance to find out directly.
At worst, substack should remove the comment text box so you don’t even begin to try to type something. This is terrible UX design.
At best, comments should be allowed, as argued (?) by Hidden Markov Respecter. Consider this my +1 to his article, with a fresh example of why.
Here endeth the rant.
[Edit: I can’t help myself. If you have not seen the movie “Young guns”, I can highly recommend it if you’re into Westerns and a little historical flexibility. ]
Rant I: What he said
It is quite a turn off to me when Substacks that were 'free' to comment become 'paid only' can comment, I just stop reading those. If you come out of the gate as a pay only page, there is no piss-off element. It's consistant.
I'll go post. I think you're right, it's meant to be CD4 both times
