Random V: Schrodinger's infection
Schrodinger's mask effectiveness meets Schrodinger's nosocomial transmission
Neither my (fully vaccinated + boosted) housemate nor (unvaccinated) I have been infected to date - as far as we know. We both work from home.
Australia’s current infection rate is… ~60k per day, ~9k/day in my state. At the tail end of a very sunny, warm summer season. I realise these numbers do not seem high compared to other locales, but keep in mind most of our states implemented draconian lockdowns when only a few cases were detected in the past 2 years. Now, all we have to deal with is useless vaccine passport health security theatre.
My housemate is undertaking physical therapy a few suburbs away and the therapy room is around 12m^2 (120 ft^2). No noticeable additional ventilation, window was closed (the day was cold). Both the therapist and my housemate wear masks during the 45 minute session, then...
The therapist’s receptionist called yesterday to let my housemate know the therapist has COVID.
Do masks work?
Is Omicron highly infectious?
Will either one of us become infected?
If we become infected, will we experience symptoms?
I’ll give the probability wave functions a week to collapse and let you know either way.
I hope you are well and that China is not establishing a new military base 2000km from your shores, a month after China accused Australia of 'maliciously spreading disinformation' about laser shone at RAAF patrol aircraft.
This was 2 months after China accused Australia of ‘violent’ interference in Five Eyes response to Hong Kong election.
That was 5 months after China accused Australia of COVID-19 vaccine sabotage in the Pacific.
Words cannot express how enamored of this trajectory.
Oh wait, yes they can.
Bu hao.
Yay Globalism!
ps Get plenty of D3, C, zinc, quercetin, melatonin, etc. And 🤗
Had covid the first time in October of 2020. It was rough like a bad flu but I survived without coming close to death or hospitalization. I was RELEIVED it was done. I am 70 with a few co-morbidities. I had it again in October 2021 following a road trip with my daughter who coughed for three days straight. After we both tested positive (presumably delta) we headed home. She slept the whole way. For her it was a mild flu, for me a mild cold. If I had been vaccinated it would have been much worse. Thank goodness I wasn't vaccinated :)
